Post Nice surprise for bungie/ cod will be less popular
February 14th, 2010 at 11:27 am-What do you do if you’re CEO of one of the most successful video game developers in the world? Well, if you’re chief of Activision Blizzard you gouge the customers and fans of your games by charging subscription rates for one of the most popular game series ever made, Call of Duty. As if the millions of dollars that Activision Blizzard has made from the best-selling series isn’t enough, the video game giant, reportedly with plans for a Call of Duty 7 to be released once again for the holiday season, will seemingly begin to charge for online play of the hit first person shooter, though it is not expected for CoD 7 release. Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said, “If you think about the success we’ve had in other product categories on subscription, you can get a sense of the direction that we want to take that franchise.” And spreading the flames of discontent, Infinity Ward is rumored to be hard at work on a Call of Duty MMO, fitting the profile of a subscription-based title. With so many excellent first person shooter games out there, Army of Two: The 40th Day anyone, it might be time to abandon Call of Duty in favor of a series that doesn’t want to milk its fans of every penny possible!

I hear this is only for online play/ but still, come on man.
